Capillaries

The willow’s thousand branchlet’s
stream into the sky
like capillaries spreading
on a thick arm;
seeking to spread oxygen
into the tissues of air;
carrying away one’s waste
for another’s nourishment –
the green bloodstream
that gushes from within.
